An interdisciplinary study
Abstract
In conventional linguistic research, the topic of "media and technology in foreign language learning" as well as so-called "e-learning and m-learning" currently occupy a prominent position, which is currently very clearly evident from the corona Pandemic shows. Because in almost all areas of life, thanks to current technical developments, there are a wide range of different media, technologies and learning opportunities. These constantly increasing developments mean that people can communicate and obtain information much faster than before.
used to show which dictionary apps are used and what positive and negative effects they have on foreign language learners and their learning behavior. Furthermore, various well-known language learning apps are critically analyzed by means of critical self-testing and their influence on the learning process is explained. 8 apps have been selected: three language learning apps: Duolingo, Tandem, City of Words and 5 dictionary apps: dictionary apps from Duden, Google Translate, Dict.cc, LEO dictionary and iTranslate. The choice is due to the fact that these apps are widely used by foreign language learners.
